PCS Exam Hijacked: CBI Probe Demanded

Punjab PCS Exam Controversy

Punjab BJP’s former president Sunil Jakhar has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) mains examination results, alleging that the examination has been “hijacked” through alleged irregularities.

Allegations of Malpractice

Jakhar claims the declared results expose the Bhagwant Mann government’s claims of providing “jobs without money, without recommendation.” He alleges a pattern of irregularities, including previous leaks of recruitment exam papers for Naib Tehsildar and paramedical staff.

Specific Concerns Regarding Roll Numbers

The core of Jakhar’s allegations centers on the selection pattern. He points out that 10-11 candidates were selected from individual examination rooms, and 86 candidates appeared in consecutive roll-number groups. According to Jakhar, this raises questions about the roll number issuance process and whether favoured candidates were deliberately assigned consecutive numbers.

Questioning the Selection Process

Jakhar questioned how nearly one-fourth of the candidates at a single centre or within specific rooms could achieve such high success rates, suggesting a possible “special method” may have been employed. The Tribune reports that the PPSC has yet to issue a statement regarding these allegations.

Previous Allegations

Jakhar noted that the Mann government has faced similar accusations of recruitment irregularities in the past. He stated that a CBI investigation is “extremely necessary” to uncover the truth and present it to the public.

Next Steps

The reaction of the PPSC and the state government is currently awaited. Candidates who have concerns about the results are encouraged to seek further information from the PPSC website: [https://www.ppsc.gov.in/](https://www.ppsc.gov.in/)
