Kerala Teacher Suspended Following False Allegation
A physical education teacher from Ernakulam district, Jijo James, has been suspended by the Keralam General Education Department following accusations of falsely claiming to have found worms in the food served to participants at the State School Sports Meet in Kozhikode.
Teacher Arrested
According to sources, Jijo James, a teacher at Shalom Vocational Higher Secondary School in Vengola, has been taken into custody by the Kunnamangalam police. He was allegedly recorded by police on Wednesday while filming in the food preparation area, an action that organizers objected to.
Investigation Launched
The police took Mr. James into custody to prevent further disruption. A food committee convener subsequently filed a complaint against him. Keralam General Education Minister N. Samsudheen stated that an inquiry will be conducted into the alleged conspiracy surrounding the incident, describing it as an offense against participating students.
Previous Reports
Earlier in the week, some media outlets reported the discovery of worms in the ‘sambar’ being served to the athletes. Minister Samsudheen indicated that this incident is an attempt to undermine the sports event.
Next Steps
Currently, the investigation is ongoing. Further details regarding the findings and potential disciplinary actions are expected to be released by the Education Department.
