21-Year-Old College Student Opens Gurugram Cafe, Makes Rs 15 Lakh in Just 50 Days
Ananya Agarwal, a 21-year-old student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies, co-founded Lume & Lime, a vegetarian bistro in Gurugram, which reportedly earned Rs 15 lakh in its first 50 days.
The Business
Building a business alongside her studies is a significant undertaking. According to India Today, Ananya is juggling college attendance, assignments, and examinations while ensuring the smooth operation of her restaurant.
Speaking to Curly Tales, she stated, “I am learning along the way. Entrepreneurship means a lot to me.”
Why Lume & Lime?
Ananya’s vision for Lume & Lime goes beyond simply opening another restaurant. She aimed to create a welcoming space offering good food without rushing patrons.
She noted a trend in the Indian restaurant scene, where international cuisines are often heavily adapted with Indian spices, diminishing their original character. Lume & Lime’s focus is on retaining the authentic flavors of Italian, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines.
A Family Venture
Ananya’s entrepreneurial journey is supported by her parents, Dr Vishal Agrawal and Preeti Agrawal, who bring over a decade of business experience to the venture.
Her father provides guidance on brand strategy, business meetings, and the operational aspects of a hospitality business, complementing her management degree education.
What Lume & Lime Offers
Lume & Lime is a vegetarian bistro serving dishes inspired by Italian, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines. The menu includes brick-oven pizzas, handmade pastas, tacos, mezze platters, specialty breads, and various fries.
The cafe also offers specialty coffee, beverages, and desserts, with vegan options available. According to its Instagram account, Lume & Lime operates daily from 9 am to 11 pm.
Next Steps
Currently, Ananya balances her degree with building her restaurant business. Further information regarding the cafe’s future plans has not yet been announced.
