Odisha Returns Rs 69 Crore to Students

Overview

Over 1.11 lakh college students in Odisha have received a refund of their admission fees, totaling Rs 69.23 crore. The refunds are being processed under the state government’s Gyanodaya – Shiksha Ru Samruddhi scheme, also known as the KG to PG Free Education Scheme, for the 2026-27 academic session.

Scheme Details

The Gyanodaya – Shiksha Ru Samruddhi scheme aims to reduce the cost of higher education for eligible students and their families. It provides free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level.

Eligibility

The scheme covers students enrolled in regular undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes at state public universities, government colleges, and government-aided private colleges within Odisha.

Refund Process

Since the scheme was implemented after the admission process, eligible students had already paid their fees. The Higher Education Department is now returning the money directly to their bank accounts.

What if the Refund is Not Received?

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj has instructed students to verify their bank accounts to confirm the refund has been credited. Students who have not received the amount are advised to update their bank details.

Updating Bank Details

The government intends to provide a link on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) student login portal. This link will allow students to correct their bank information and complete the refund process. Students should monitor the SAMS portal for the availability of this link.

No Specific Deadline

As of now, the government has not announced a specific deadline for updating bank details or completing the remaining refunds.
