Rohtak University Plans Better Safety, Academic, Sports Facilities for Girls

Rohtak University (MDU) has proposed a series of improvements to enhance safety and provide upgraded facilities for female students. The plans were announced following recent incidents on campus and student protests.

Security Enhancements

The proposals include installing double-layer barbed wire fencing along the perimeter of all 10 girls’ hostels. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized entry and create a safer environment. The work will be carried out by the university’s XEN (Executive Engineer) office on a priority basis, according to Dr Sapna Garg, Chief Warden (girls’ hostels).

Academic and Recreational Facilities

The university intends to utilize its newly constructed reading hall more effectively. The ground floor will feature indoor games like table tennis, chess, and carrom. The second floor will be divided into a computer laboratory and a dedicated study room, both equipped with necessary amenities.

Sports Development

A vacant area near Krishna and Bhagirathi Girls’ Hostels will be developed into sports facilities. The plan includes two badminton courts, one volleyball court, and one basketball court. Proper lighting will be installed to allow for evening play.

Academic Council Approvals

During a recent meeting of the academic council, the university approved memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Avitri Intelligence Pvt Ltd and Acumes Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd, both based in New Delhi. A total of 80 academic proposals were considered.

The council also registered 147 research scholars for PhD programs and approved summer internship regulations to provide students with practical experience.
